Tourism Company "Apaga Tour" offers 2 weeks vehicular and pedestrian journey across Armenia following the route Yerevan-Amberd-Alaverdy-Kapan, what is giving a maximum of acquaintance to Armenia (Historical, cultural, natural and geographical), possible for this period of time. Moreover, it discovers for us modern Armenia.

Tour Program

Day 1
Arrival; Transportation from "Zvartnotce" airport to Yerevan and placing in Guest House; Breakfast; Visit to Parajanov and Saryan Museums; Lunch; Strolls down the Yerevan; Supper and stay in Guest House.

Day 2
Breakfast in the Guest House; Car trip to Ashtarak and seeing of 3 Churches; Car trip to Sagmosavank; Ascent in a vehicle on Aragac mountain, where Kari-lich Lake is situated (3200 m/2 miles); Lunch; 2 hours of hiking to Amberd fortress (10 km/6.2 miles); Supper and overnight stay in tents.

Day 3
[Gyumri reg.] Breakfast; Drive to Sun-Worship Burial Ground at Rya-Taza village; Drive to Spitak and Vanadzor and pedestrian (40 minutes) visit to Kobayr monastery in the Valley of Debed River; the monastery is decorated with unique frescos; Lunch; Drive to Alaverdy; Ascent on a vehicle to Sanayin village, where from hiking to Sanayin monastery; Drive to Akhpat monastery; Supper and overnight stay in tents at the Akhpat monastery.

Day 4
[Tavush reg.] Breakfast; Drive to Achajur village; 1.5 hour pedestrian ascent to Makaravank monastery; Drive to Yenokavan village; Lunch; Hiking from Khach village to Nvezneri er village; Drive to Homer; Horse riding; Supper and overnight stay in tents.

Day 5
[Tavush reg.] Breakfast; Hiking to Lastiver caves; Lunch by the waterfalls; Hiking to Okonakhach Church; Tasting of highland honey right at apiary; Turning back to Homer.

Day 6
[Tavush reg.] Breakfast; Drive to Goshavank monastery, where the great fabulist of XIII century – Mkhitar Gosh is buried; There from, 3 hours of walking by a pictorial mountain path, crossing Areguni ridge to Parz Lich Lake; Lunch in Dilijan; After the midday – drive to Agarcin monastery; Supper and stay in Dilijan at B&B

Day 7
[Tavush – Gegharkunik reg.] We are going on with our Active Rest Tour by the territory of Dilijan forest reserve to Sevan mountain lake coast (alt. is 1898 m/1.1 miles); Visiting of Sevan's peninsula monastery; Drive to Ayrivank monastery and seeing of the biggest necropolis from headstones – khachkars in Noraduz; Dinner at the beach of the Lake; On-car crossing of Selim pass 2400 m/1.5 miles and visiting of caravanserai; 3 hours of hiking to Smbatabrd and Cakhac-kar fortresses; Supper and overnight stay in tents at Yeghegis village on the bank of a river in a deep rocky canyon.

Day 8
[Vanadzor reg.] Breakfast; 4 hours hiking by a mountain path to Shatin monastery; Dinner; Driving to Sisian; Visit to ancient observatory Karaunj in Sisian (4000 B.C.), observation of first forms of monumental architecture: Table-stones of Zorac Karer ; Drive to Tatev monastery; Overnight stay by the monastery.

Day 9
Seeing of Tatev University of XIII century and swinging stele of X century; Driving to Goris; Pedestrian descent to cave site of ancient settlement Khndzoresk; Dinner in a townsman house; Then we will take a walk down Goris; Supper and overnight stay in tents.

Day 10
[Syunik reg.] Breafast; Driving to Kapan; 1 hour hiking to Vahavank monastery; Dinner; Walking down Kapan by the valley of Wokhchi river; Observation of majestic Hustup mountain; Supper and stay in "Darish" inn;

Day 11
Breakfast; Driving to Yeghegnadzor; On-vehicle visiting of Gladzor, Tanaat, Noravank monasteries; Supper and stay in tents at Gnishik river canyon.

Day 12
Breakfast; On-car visiting of Areni Church; Driving to Khor-Virap monastery, situated on the boarder with Turkey, right on the foot of scriptural Ararat (alt. 5165 m/3.2 miles); Turning back to Yerevan and visiting of "Erebuni" museum; Supper and overnight stay in a Guest House.

Day 13
Breakfast; Visiting of Churches of Saint Martyrs Ripsime and Gayane (VII cent.), Name Church Cathedral in Echmiadzin (303 A.D.), Sardarapat historical complex and the ruins of Temple of Watching Forces - Zvartnotc (VII cent.), what was destroyed by a mighty earthquake in 939; Night in Yerevan.

Day 14
Drive to Garni pagan temple (I-III cent.) and to Geghard monastery (XII cent.); Return to Yerevan; Visit to Matenadaran; Lunch; Supper and overnight stay in a Guest House.

Departure day
